Two Decades of Bilingual Excellence: HudsonWay’s 20th Anniversary Celebration

HudsonWay Immersion School (HWIS), a pioneer in language immersion education is proud to be celebrating its 20th anniversary. Founded in 2005 as Bilingual Buds (rebranded as HudsonWay Immersion school in 2014) in the home of founders Sharon Huang and Bill Hicks with a handful of students including their twin 2-year old sons, the school has since expanded to include two tracks: Mandarin and Spanish immersion, two locations: Stirling, NJ and Midtown West, NYC, and three divisions: preschool, elementary and middle school with a total enrollment of over 300 students. The school is unique in that it is the only Mandarin/Spanish immersion school in the tri-state area offering a full immersion model through eighth grade. Students learn all subjects in two languages and develop critical thinking skills needed in today’s globalized world.

ARCTIC TIE – a mnemonic for HudsonWay’s Values

In the first few weeks of school students took a deep dive into what it means to live the values of HudsonWay - Accountability, Respect, Communication, Teamwork, Innovation, Community Service, Transparency, Integrity, Excellence. Teacher Yonca Oktay led a rich discussion on each value, what it looks and sounds like, and created scenarios that demonstrated them. Teacher Shanshan Zhang created games to help her students internalize their meanings.

HUDSONWAY IMMERSION SCHOOL INCREASES FINANCIAL AID FOR SELECT GRADES

HudsonWay Immersion School announced today that it will offer financial aid awards of up to 80% of tuition for qualified students entering the Mandarin or Spanish immersion middle school program in Grade 5 or Grade 6 and for the Spanish elementary program in Kindergarten or Grade 1 beginning with the 2021-2022 academic school year.
