Middle States Accreditation - HudsonWay Immersion School has received full accreditation from the Middle States Association – Commission for Elementary and Secondary Schools for both its NY and NJ campuses. The school joins a list of 3,000 member schools in the United States and more than 90 countries around the world that agree to a voluntary, in-depth self-study of its program that reviews the 12 key areas making up the standard of accreditation: Mission, Governance and Leadership, School Improvement, Planning, Finances, Facilities, School Organization and Staff, Health and Safety, Educational Program, Assessment and Evidence of Student Learning, Student Services, Student Life and Activities and Information Resources. Columbia University - For the past 5 years, HudsonWay has partnered with Teacher’s College as a host school for student teachers enrolled in TC’s Graduate School of Education. Each year HWIS-NY employs 6-8 student teachers per term.
Amity Institute - Starting in 2024-2025, HWIS will be hosting student teachers from China’s Beijing Normal University. Amity Institute has a 60 year track record of supporting cultural understanding through teacher exchange.
Asia Society’s CELIN - HWIS is proud to be a member of CELIN, the Chinese Early Learning Immersion Network - a group of nationwide leaders in the field of Mandarin Immersion Education. HWIS is frequently invited to participate in conferences such as the National Chinese Language Conference hosted by the Asia Society.
Parents League - HWIS is a member of the New York’s Parents League, an organization of 350 independent member schools who are accredited and have been selected to join the organization.
New York State Association of Independent Schools - NYSAIS - HWIS is one of the 203 nursery, elementary and secondary schools who have joined this organization to support policy development, collaboration, and professional development.
Student and Exchange Visitor Information System - SEVIS - HWIS is approved by the Department of Homeland Security to issue an F-1 visa for international students to study in the US at either its NJ or NY campuses.
Newark YMCA - For the past two years, HWIS has partnered with the Newark YMCA to host an international immersion sleepaway camp offering either Mandarin or Spanish and English immersion in a traditional American camp setting. For one or two weeks, students led by educators, develop teamwork, language and independence skills in the great outdoors.
Consulate General of People’s Republic of China - Through its relationship and partnership with the Consulate, HWIS was selected to be the host for the 2024 Annual Chinese Language Day held in April 2024 on each of its campuses. Open to the public, the event was attended by Consulate General Ambassador Huang Ping and other dignitaries.
Educational Records Bureau - ERB - For the past decade, HWIS has partnered with ERB to administer the CTP, an assessment in English language arts and mathematics used in many independent schools nationwide. HWIS students have consistently outperformed the independent school norms year over year.
College Board - For the past 3 years, HWIS has been a test site and has administered College Board’s AP Chinese Language and Culture test, and AP Spanish and Culture test. All HWIS middle school and alumni who have taken the test have qualified for the Global Seal of Biliteracy.
Level Learning - HWIS has used Level Learning to diagnose progress in reading comprehension in Mandarin and Spanish using this adaptive web based platform. This platform enables students to have digital access to a library of Mandarin and Spanish text of all levels and topics.
