September 16, 2019National Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15th to October 15th, is a time when we recognize as a nation the great contributions of Latinos to American culture as well as honor their long and influential presence in North America.
HWIS’s mission is to help disseminate opportunities for our students and the broader public to celebrate the heritage of so many of our staff and parent community, and to educate our children.
To that end, we present here some fun events for National Hispanic Heritage Month:
Hispanic Heritage Exhibition
Thursday, September 12 | 9am–5pm

The Bronx
“The Poe Park Visitor Center proudly presents a Hispanic Heritage exhibition featuring the work of artists whose art tells of the political and social struggles of Latinos, as well as pride in tradition and the beauty of the Hispanic culture. Through the mediums of photography, paintings, mixed media, sculpture, words, and film their stories emerge. The exhibition is open on Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. through Saturday, September 28.”
