February 4, 2021Immersion Education: Supporting Equity, Unity and Gifted Students
March 8, 2021We kick off our month in Week 1 with students “dressed” in celebration of their favorite characters in literature. Students can come to school dressed according to the theme of the day: Pajamas (Monday), Foreign Character Day (Tuesday), Silly Stories (Wacky Wednesday), Myths and Legends (Thursday), and Fantasy (Friday).
Throughout the month parents will read themed books to classes via Zoom. Students will participate in a Reading Challenge in which students of various ages have goals ranging from 500 minutes (about 8 and a half hours) in kindergarten to 1000 minutes (about 16 and a half hours) in middle school. Students are also putting together posters depicting their favorite book with scenarios or dialogue displayed throughout the school.
We will also be featuring buddy reading in which upper grade students read to preschoolers.
An exciting month of activity is ahead!
