Language Immersion Camp | NJ

Each two-week study provides an age-appropriate perspective on important aspects of our world. Students acquire an appreciation for diverse cultures while developing language skills in a Mandarin or Spanish immersion environment. Each theme will culminate in a project and presentation. Camp runs from 9am—3pm (or 9am—12pm for half-day campers).

UNDER THE SEA Week 1 — Jun 24 – 28  & / or  Week 2 – Jul 1 – 5, 2019 (Closed on Jul 4)

Campers “travel” under the sea to explore fish, whales, sharks, and other marine life, and further explore the aquatic world through nature and crafts projects. Of course, no Under the Sea week would be complete without some wet & wild water games, and plenty of other ways of beating the summer heat!

JUNIOR CHEF Week 3 — Jul 8 – 12  & / or  Week 4 – Jul 15 – 19

The mission: to engage aspiring home cooks with an exciting and enriching culinary experience. Campers develop strong cooking capabilities, healthy eating habits, and personal growth skills while having the time of their lives. Through team challenges and competitions, they form strong connections and create unforgettable memories!

HUDSONWAY OLYMPICS Week 5 — Jul 22 – 26  & / or  Week 6 – Jul 29 – Aug 2

Activities include various summer and winter Olympic sports, often tweaked in fun and creative ways. Our elementary students will also explore how throughout history the Olympics have helped bring countries closer together, and learn the personal stories and triumphs that are forever a part of history.

THEATRE ARTS CAMP (Ages 6–12) Week 2 — Jul 1 – 5  & / or Week 3 — Jul 8 – 15

Week 2: Shakespeare at HudsonWay — Campers will be transported back to Elizabethan England to learn about the life and work of William Shakespeare, read and perform scenes from some of his most famous plays. Highlights of the week will include Simple Stage Combat 101. Ending the week will be a demonstration open to parents and caregivers.

Week 3: HudsonWay Piglets Acting Troupe — Shel Silverstein poems become vehicles of exploration for a group of young actors and singers called the HudsonWay Piglets Acting Troupe. Campers will have the opportunity to explore improvisation, acting games, songs, and movement, and, finally, to create their own performance.
(Note: Theatre Arts Camp is taught in English.)

BASEBALL CAMP (Ages 6–12) Week 2 — Jul 1 – 5  & / or Week 3 — Jul 8 – 15

This program will provide campers with the innings and outs of our Great American Pastime—focused practice on each aspect of the skills of Hitting, Fielding, Pitching and Catching, understanding the rules of the game, and fostering positive teamwork. The instruction process extends across physical and mental disciplines, helping campers to think and act like real ballplayers. Camp is administered in stations format with full-group activities and daily coach lectures.
