Language Immersion Camp | NJ

Each two-week study provides an age-appropriate perspective on important aspects of our world. Students acquire an appreciation for diverse cultures while developing language skills in a Mandarin or Spanish immersion environment. Each theme will culminate in a project and presentation. Camp runs from 9am—3pm (or 9am—12pm for half-day campers).

UNDER THE SEA Week 1 — Jun 24 – 28  & / or  Week 2 – Jul 1 – 5, 2019 (Closed on Jul 4) 

Campers “travel” under the sea to explore fish, whales, sharks, and other marine life, and further explore the aquatic world through nature and crafts projects. Of course, no Under the Sea week would be complete without some wet & wild water games, and plenty of other ways of beating the summer heat!

JUNIOR CHEF Week 3 — Jul 8 – 12  & / or  Week 4 – Jul 15 – 19

The mission: to engage aspiring home cooks with an exciting and enriching culinary experience. Campers develop strong cooking capabilities, healthy eating habits, and personal growth skills while having the time of their lives. Through team challenges and competitions, they form strong connections and create unforgettable memories!

HUDSONWAY OLYMPICS Week 5 — Jul 22 – 26  & / or  Week 6 – Jul 29 – Aug 2

Activities include various summer and winter Olympic sports, often tweaked in fun and creative ways. Our elementary students will also explore how throughout history the Olympics have helped bring countries closer together, and learn the personal stories and triumphs that are forever a part of history.

THEATRE ARTS CAMP (Ages 6–12) Week 2 — Jul 1 – 5  & / or Week 3 — Jul 8 – 15 

Week 2: Shakespeare at HudsonWay — Campers will be transported back to Elizabethan England to learn about the life and work of William Shakespeare, read and perform scenes from some of his most famous plays. Highlights of the week will include Simple Stage Combat 101. Ending the week will be a demonstration open to parents and caregivers.

Week 3: HudsonWay Piglets Acting Troupe — Shel Silverstein poems become vehicles of exploration for a group of young actors and singers called the HudsonWay Piglets Acting Troupe. Campers will have the opportunity to explore improvisation, acting games, songs, and movement, and, finally, to create their own performance.
(Note: Theatre Arts Camp is taught in English.)

SPORTS CAMP (Ages 6–12) Week 2 — Jul 1 – 5  & / or Week 3 — Jul 8 – 15 

Soccer, Basketball, Baseball / Softball, Badminton, Kickball, Flag football, Floor Hockey, Pin-dodge, Tennis, & Golf—Plus backyard game and more! Each sport is taught through a building-blocks approach in which student’s perform sport-specific movements and drills that develop competency and instill confidence. The curriculum is tailored for sport exposure and self-actualization. Students are grouped by age and then again by skill-level.
(Note: Sports Camp will be taught in English.)
