Having read the first of the Blood of Stars duology, Spin the Dawn, our 6th and 7th Graders in Ms. Poon’s English language arts class had the opportunity to ask questions of author Elizabeth Lim in a virtual session. Elizabeth Lim is the author of several bestselling fantasy fiction books and a parent of a HudsonWay preschooler. This novel embeds aspects of Chinese culture and folklore featuring a heroine inspired by the life and work of Elizabeth’s grandmother, a seamstress. Our students learned how Elizabeth became interested in writing, her writing process, how she creates dialogue, finds inspiration, and overcame obstacles. Following this, they held a Meet and Greet in the park to sign autographs and connect once again!
