HudsonWay Immersion School Celebrates 20 Years of Bilingual Education Excellence
February 28, 2025Twenty years ago, what began as a bold vision—to raise globally-minded children with the confidence to navigate a multilingual world—has grown into something extraordinary. On a beautiful evening cruise surrounded by friends, families, alumni, and staff, HudsonWay Immersion School marked its 20th anniversary with gratitude, joy, and a renewed commitment to the future.
“Twenty years ago, Bill and I had a dream: that our sons could grow up navigating the world confidently—with strong analytical skills, biliteracy, and cultural understanding,” said founder Sharon Huang during her moving remarks. “Despite no formal background in education… we set out to create Bilingual Buds.”
The event took place aboard a celebratory cruise, symbolizing the journey HudsonWay has taken—from humble beginnings to becoming a leader in bilingual education. The evening featured heartfelt speeches, lively reunions, and a special video spotlighting two of HudsonWay’s very first full-day students: Matt Fallon and Cameron Woods.

Matt and Cameron share how HudsonWay shaped their early lives—from developing fluency in a second language to gaining confidence and cultural insight that continue to serve them today.
Their reflections captured what so many in the HudsonWay community feel: that this school is not just about academics, but about values, identity, and belonging.
As Sharon shared in her speech:
“Our students excel—writing essays in Mandarin and Spanish, solving advanced math problems in their second language, and thriving on trips to Spain and China… Many move on to selective high schools and continue to make us proud.”
Looking back, the school’s journey was one of resilience and unwavering belief—from teaching in rented spaces to weathering the uncertainty of COVID-19. Through it all, the dedication of parents, educators, and partners never wavered.
“What has helped us immeasurably has been the dedication and skill of our teachers and staff,” Sharon said. “To our parents—thank you for your trust, your time, and your belief in this vision.”
Looking Forward
As we celebrate this milestone, HudsonWay is not slowing down. The future holds plans to:
- Expand enrollment in Spanish and middle school programs
- Grow after-school offerings and extracurricular opportunities
- Invest in facilities and continue enhancing the student experience
- Deepen global partnerships and cross-cultural learning opportunities
Thank You to Our Community
This celebration wouldn’t have been possible without the passion and commitment of our anniversary committee, generous sponsors, staff, alumni, and families who continue to make HudsonWay a special place. Your belief in our mission fuels everything we do.
As we sail into the next chapter, we remain anchored by our founding vision: that children thrive when they are immersed in language, culture, and a community that believes in their potential.
Here’s to the next 20 years—of learning, leading, and making a difference in the world.
