December 4, 2020What it means to be a strong culture by Michael Morgan
December 4, 2020The parent association on each campus does a tremendous job supporting the school’s mission and enriching the experience of our community. Although there are two organizations, there are also some activities that support both communities. Here are some of the highlights:
Is providing 3 special education classrooms at the Woodrow Wilson School in New Brunswick with things for the classroom, as well as toys in the $20-25 range. There are ~400 kids in the school --all are on the free lunch program. They also have 15 homeless students at the school. To donate, please purchase the gifts from the wish list by Dec 9th to allow time for shipping, wrapping and distribution of the gifts. When you order, please ship to "Laurie Lazovick's Gift Registry Address".
Led a fundraising campaign to raise $2295 to help local families put Thanksgiving meals on their tables during this difficult time!
Is working with teachers and have our students make cards and videos for seniors at local nursing homes.
Is presenting “Mandarin Basics: Lessons from an adult learner" - parents at HWIS provide a fun and informative lunch hour lesson on Thursday December 17th from 12-1 to demystify Mandarin Chinese from the perspective of an adult learner and give tips for supporting their children’s learning. This is open to all current and prospective parents. Register here.
Sponsored a drive with Room to Grow collecting of a dozen boxes of new and gently used items for the community. Older students were involved in the distribution of these items.
Led students to create Thanksgiving cards sent to a Palliative Care home in Allentown, PA and Citymeals on Wheels.
