The students explored many different kinds of exhibits during this field trip. They observed a variety of fish that are found in the Hudson River, monkeys that are not indigenous to our state, chameleons, cockroaches, praying mantises, and snakes OH MY!
Students also viewed a small show that simulated a tiny tornado. An instructor from LSC showed our students how a tornado is formed and what happens when it touches down to the ground.
We had the pleasure of viewing a special showing in the planetarium called "Wonders of The Night Sky". The students got to see real constellations visible to us and that we studied in our science unit. The students observed many different planets and learned about the times the planets would be visible to the naked eye in our hemisphere.
Students were amazed when the show mapped out our galaxy and it "zoomed out" to show the billions of other galaxies that have been discovered throughout the years. The finale of the show was a simulation of the collision of The Milky Way with Andromeda - a phenomenon that is predicted to happen in over 4 billion years.
