Colonial America
Colonial America - Grade 4 and 5 Mandarin students completed a unit on Colonial America as part of their social studies unit.  For six weeks they studied coexistence of the English and the Wampanoag people, compared and contrasted the towns of Jamestown, Roanoke and Plymouth, Virginia studying everyday life which included apprenticeships, how they viewed slavery, music and dance.

They learned to view historical events from different perspectives, essential to developing critical thinking.  Each student also selected one of the thirteen colonies to complete a more in-depth study which he/she presented to the class.
