HUDSONWAY IMMERSION SCHOOL INCREASES FINANCIAL AID FOR SELECT GRADES
Giving elementary and middle schoolers a unique opportunity to develop biliteracy skills
(Midtown West, NYC, April 18, 2021) – HudsonWay Immersion School announced today that it will offer financial aid awards of up to 80% of tuition for qualified students entering the Mandarin or Spanish immersion middle school program in Grade 5 or Grade 6 and for the Spanish elementary program in Kindergarten or Grade 1 beginning with the 2021-2022 academic school year. Similar to the current school year, HWIS expects to be onsite full days, 5 days per week next year. Typically, students begin immersion in preschool, however, HWIS has been very successful at integrating and supporting students joining in elementary and middle school years without prior language backgrounds in Mandarin or Spanish. Students taking advantage of this opportunity will be grouped separately when taught in the second language with a dedicated teacher to support them.
“We have been amazed at the ability of students coming into our program in the middle school grades to catch up to peers rather quickly enabled by our small class sizes and supportive teachers and students”, said Founder Sharon Huang. “Many parents tell us that this experience has been life-changing, developing a greater sense of confidence and global perspective for their child.”
Students who begin the program in Grade 5 or 6 and graduate in Grade 8 will have developed advanced biliteracy skills and completed a rigorous academic curriculum across all content areas preparing them for high school work and beyond. Students applying to this program will be requested to submit an application, ISEE or SSAT assessment scores, teacher recommendations and transcripts and financial information using SSS. Students will be assessed on knowledge in the target language, but this is not a criterion for admittance.
HWIS prides itself in its reputation for developing academically strong students who surpass independent school norms on assessments and who get accepted to top tier independent schools in NJ and NY.
