Field Trip to Liberty Science Center
November 14, 2021Halloween Celebrations @HWIS
November 15, 2021
On October 24, HWIS hosted a free virtual celebration showcasing a “Rainbow of Cultures”.
One of the highlighted HudsonWay projects was a multidisciplinary project led by NJ Spanish teacher Maria Campana in which her students conducted research on writer Gabriela Garcia Marquez. From this research they wrote and acted in a play depicting his life and passion in work. See the recording below.
Check out the entire celebration which included a salsa workshop by Ballet Hispanico, the largest Latinx cultural organization in the U.S. We also heard a story read to us from award-winning Spanish author Marta Zafrilla, learned how to make arepas – a cornmeal staple of Venezuela, made Mexican Amate paintings, visited a Colombian restaurant and worked out to the rhythm of Zumba, and much more.
