Our Mandarin and Spanish preschool classes invited the Art Farm to give a science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) lesson on how to care for different farm animals. Our 2’s, 3’s and pre-K classes had the chance to meet "Sticky" (stick insect), "Coco” (hamster), “Esther” (bird), “Mark” (red eyed crocodile lizard) and “Da'vinci” (turtle). The animals were tame and friendly and our students had the opportunity to pet and hold them. Our students learned a lot about the animals through asking questions such as “what does the hamster eat”, “why does the stick insect look like a stick?” and “why is the shell of the turtle not flat?”
They also learned how to respect our animal friends by gently touching them and speaking in lower voices. It was an amazing experience and one that our children clearly enjoyed immensely!
