Increased financial aid for select grades

Giving elementary and middle schoolers a unique opportunity to develop biliteracy skills

HudsonWay Immersion School is now offering financial aid awards of up to 80% of tuition for qualified students entering the Mandarin or Spanish immersion middle school program in Grade 5 or Grade 6 and for the Spanish elementary program in Kindergarten or Grade 1 beginning with the 2021-2022 academic school year. Similar to the current school year, HWIS expects to be onsite full days, 5 days per week next year. Read press release here.

Financial Aid FAQs

1Who is eligible for increased financial aid?
Students of any grade can qualify for up to 50% financial aid; however, we are offering additional aid up to 80% of financial aid for students in select classes: 1) Students entering the Spanish elementary program in Kindergarten or Grade 1 on either the NY or NJ campuses and 2) Students entering the Mandarin or Spanish immersion middle school program in Grade 5 or Grade 6 on either the NY or NJ campuses. 2How can I apply?
Students applying to this program will be requested to submit: A student application for the campus of interest (either New York or New Jersey), and complete the financial aid application.
3What is the last date to apply?
July 30, 2021
4What is the admissions process?
Upon applying, students will be asked to: 1) Take part in a student assessment. 2) Submit ISEE or SSAT (for those enrolling in Grades 5 or 6). 3) Submit teacher recommendations. 4) Submit current year and prior year report cards. 5) Parent interview with member of the admissions team.
5Do I have to reapply for financial aid every year?
Yes, re-application is required every year. If your financial situation changes, you may get more or less aid.
6If my child starts language immersion in elementary or middle school will she be able to cope?
Typically, students begin immersion in preschool, however, HWIS has been very successful at integrating and supporting students joining in elementary and middle school years without prior language backgrounds in Mandarin or Spanish. Students taking advantage of this opportunity will be grouped separately when taught in the second language with a dedicated teacher to support them.
