Success Stories

Here are just a few of the many student success stories at HWIS

Matt Fallon

One of NJ’s first alumni in the Mandarin program, Matt went on to achieve a score of 5 on the AP Chinese exam in Grade 7. Matt went onto Pingry after HWIS and is currently a senior at the University of Pennsylvania. Congratulations to Matt for qualifying to represent Team USA at the 2024 Olympics in swimming.

Cameron Wright

One of NJ’s first alumni in the Spanish program, Cameron continued at Newark Academy and is currently a sophomore at MIT. Cameron’s interests include robotics where he competed internationally.

Lily Rowe-Smith

Lily is a Chinese major in the honors program at the University of Vermont who was accepted to every university where she applied. Lily interned with HudsonWay during the summer of 2023 and by her sophomore year had completed all of the most senior level classes in the program.

Renzo Lau

Renzo joined HudsonWay’s NY campus in Grade 6 without any prior exposure to Mandarin and graduated as a bilingual and biliterate student. He is currently a junior at Bronx Science, a selective public high school in NYC.

Mungo Prus-Shearer

Mungo began in the NY school as a preschool student continuing through grade 8. He received a 5 on the AP Chinese test as a 7th grader in middle school. He is currently enrolled at Regis High School, a very selective NY high school on a full scholarship.
