Ballet by Alvin Ailey is an Ailey Arts In Education residency and will be taught by an Ailey Arts In Education Teaching Artist.
This class introduces students to the foundation of ballet technique and vocabulary. The French language is used to describe ballet terminology such as plié, relevé, tendu, port de bras, arabesque, and pirouette.
Characteristics of ballet technique include turned-out leg positions, pointed toes, elongated posture, alignment, strength, flexibility, style, musicality, control, and placement. Ballet technique establishes a solid foundation for further training and exploration of other dance techniques. The choreography often has a focus on narrative and storytelling.

Note: Please do not enroll in this class if you require early pick up while the class is taking place. We will not be able to have staff leave other children to get a child from an enrichment class early.

Day: Tuesdays
Time: 3:35-5pm
Cost (Spring Semester): $1,125 for 14 classes and an additional Performance day.
