HWIS Value Proposition

  • Students at HWIS learn content taught in traditional monolingual schools while also developing biliteracy in Mandarin or Spanish to a high level
  • Student performance as measured by the ERB outperforms the independent school norm
  • Class sizes are smaller vs. other private school ensuring greater attention and differentiation
  • Smaller school setting facilitates greater parent and administration partnership
  • Tuition is more affordable vs. most independent schools
  • Financial aid is available for qualified families

We are committed to...

  • attracting, retaining, and developing the highest quality faculty
  • continually improving curriculum and student resources
  • offering a breadth of co-curricular experiences outside the classroom including international experiences, field trips, and enrichment

Financial assistance is offered through several vehicles, including different payment plans and need-based tuition assistance.

New York Tuition

Typically, a family that joins HWIS makes a long-term commitment to immersion education, understanding that it takes several years to develop biliteracy, and that the cognitive benefits increase with the number of years spent in immersion.

The setting of tuition is undertaken each year in collaboration with the Board and the Head of School. It encompasses the intersection of three considerations:

  • Providing resources to address the mission and vision of the school
  • Ensuring the financial sustainability of the school
  • Making HWIS accessible to as many families as possible

Note: Tuition fees do not include: extended care, after-school enrichment, summer camp, and international travel.
