Global Immersion Experiences
Students on their way to global citizenship should have the opportunity to explore the world they will eventually become part of. That’s why we have taken families on global experiences where we’ve visited cultural sites and interacted with locals in Beijing, Shanghai and Xian, China, as well as Marbella and Madrid, Spain.
Global citizenship education develops students who embrace cultures beyond their own, are aware of their own preconceptions, and can reflect and take action to impact both their local community and beyond. Global citizenship cultivates personal respect and respect for others, regardless of where they live or their backgrounds.
During 2025 spring break, HWIS 5th and 6th graders in both language tracks will have an opportunity to travel to Beijing, Kaifeng, and Luoyang China for a once in a lifetime historical and cultural introduction to China. They will become familiar with the ancient capitals, connect with students in a sister school, and meet locals in organizations to participate in service learning.
