Hip Hop by Alvin Ailey is an Ailey Arts In Education residency and will be taught by an Ailey Arts In Education Teaching Artist. Hip hop dance evolved alongside hip-hop music and culture and has grown out of a street dance culture to be one of the most dynamic and popular dance styles for dancers of all ages. The cultural movement of Hip hop represents freedom, growth, and evolution.

Classes begin with a warm-up which includes stretches, isolations, and core strengthening. Students are encouraged to create their own moves, producing an individual style through improvisation and mock-battle choreography. Known for high energy, attitude, and versatility, hip hop dance includes – popping, locking, breaking, spins, freezes, and more – will keep students’ spirits high and their blood pumping!

Note: Please do not enroll in this class if you require early pick up while the class is taking place. We will not be able to have staff leave other children to get a child from an enrichment class early.

Day: Tuesdays
Time: 4:35-6pm
Cost (Fall Semester): $975 for 13 classes. With only 13 classes, there is no Performance Day included in this semester.
