The mission of HWIS is to develop global citizens ready to Navigate the World®, and that begins in our Preschool. Beginning at an early age takes advantage of a critical window in which the young mind is receptive to certain types of input, including language. Students learn subject matter (math, science, social studies, and language arts) using the target language as the vehicle.

Our model maximizes exposure to the target language in the early preschool years for 90-100% of instructional time, gradually adjusting to 60% to accommodate increased English instruction in 4th and 5th grade. In this way, we enable students to develop language proficiency which then deepens their ability to master academic content in the target language. Classes conducted in English are taught by a native English speaker. The alignment of target language and English instruction allows for synergistic learning.
