A fun, hands-on cultural celebration during school vacation!
Each year, during our Winter and Spring breaks, we offer a week-long language learning adventure, open to current and non-HWIS students alike, ages 3 to 11. No prior Spanish or Mandarin language exposure is necessary as our staff supports campers of all language levels.
Led by HWIS' experienced day school teachers, the week is filled with themed activities, arts & crafts, cooking, dancing, and more! All of this is done in a 100% Spanish or Mandarin immersion environment. You will be amazed by how much language students can acquire in relatively a short period of time, while having the time of their lives! Flexible scheduling is available, so campers can come for the full week or on a day-by-day basis.
See what we learned during April Vacation 2018!
Campers donned their backpacks and took a virtual journey to the north of Spain to be part of an exciting and wonderful journey to discover El Camino de Santiago. Students learned about this ancient pilgrimage by becoming pilgrims themselves, and following Camino Francés—the most popular of the pilgrimage routes—up to Catedral de Santiago de Compostela. Students also explored Green Spain, the northern countryside. The program was driven by theme-based, hands-on activities, such as dramatic play, cooking, arts & crafts, and more.
