HudsonWay Immersion School was proud to participate in last week’s National Chinese Language Conference (NCLC) in Houston, Texas. This particular year represented a milestone as it was the 10th year this conference has been held. HWIS gave a pair of presentations that showcased our unique approach to Chinese immersion. Plutus Yang and Sherry Ma presented on “The STEM-Focused, Thematic-Based Unit in an Elementary Chinese Immersion Classroom,” and fielded numerous questions from a full room of conference attendees. Sharon Huang was one of four school administrators invited to present as part of a Chinese Early Language Immersion Network (CELIN) panel on “Deepening Conversations and Practices of Chinese Language and Dual Immersion Programs.” This was HWIS’s second consecutive year being asked to present at NCLC, and we were delighted to again have an opportunity to contribute to the national discussion on language immersion.
