We invite you to join us for an exciting summer immersion camp to Spain this summer to Marbella and Madrid! Students age 8 or older can come unaccompanied or families with children age 5 can participate in the family immersion camp. The trip will take place July 30 – August 15.

We have partnered with a leader in Spanish language education with a history of over 30 years’ experience. The goal of our camp is to provide students a full immersion experience in Spain to improve Spanish language proficiency and develop deeper cultural understanding.

Who can participate

  • HWIS and non-HWIS students of all Spanish language levels
  • Students ages 5 and older for accompanied family immersion camp
  • Students ages 8 to 16 for unaccompanied student immersion camp
  • All student immersion campers must complete an application
  • Non-HWIS students must take part in an interview / Skype session

Highlights

  • Camp is located four miles from the beach
  • 60% native Spanish students, 40% international from over 70 countries
  • 24 hour supervision with additional 2 HWIS personnel
  • Pre and post language assessment, DELE the official test from Instituto Cervantes
  • Daily sports instruction

HWIS has developed a customized camp to include:

  • Airfare from NY to Malaga, Madrid to NY
  • Local bus transportation – airport pick up and drop off, Malaga to Marbella, Marbella to Madrid
  • Two-week camp in Marbella
  • Three-day excursion to Madrid
  • 20 hrs./week Spanish intensive course grouped by level, pre and post test
  • Room and board
  • Sports instruction 12 hours/week
  • Medical insurance
  • Weekend sightseeing – museum admissions, meals, tour guides Madrid visit – hotel, meals, bus, city tour, Prado museum, sightseeing in parts, markets

Cost

Student Immersion: $3800 includes:

  • Airfare NWR to Malaga, Madrid to NWR, trains and buses

Payment Schedule

  • 50% payment due March 8th, 2017
  • Final go / no go on March 17th, 2017 (there maybe ticket price adjustments)
  • Remaining 50% due April 15th, 2017

FAQ

Yes, this can be arranged on a weekly basis: Total cost: 169 €/week + 35€ book course and material.

  • Daily classes Monday-Friday 9:30am-1pm
  • Small groups of maximum 10 students (an average of 6).
  • All levels of DELE (A1-C2) starting any Monday of the year

NOTE: The facility for parent classes is in a different facility, about 30 minutes from the student camp.

Parents can take local buses, taxi, or use Camp bus daily transfer (Mon-Fri) for 2 weeks for a 190 € fee.

The Day Camp goes from Monday to Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Parents are not permitted to join in the classes prior to pick up time.  Parents can take the camp bus service for a 190 € fee.

Yes.  (i.e. horseback riding, tennis, sailing)

The student apartments where parents can stay are not on campus, they are at the downtown school facility.  There is air conditioning.

Yes, they can do a single week program. The cost is in the table below.

Yes, parents can take salsa dancing, flamenco dancing, or cooking classes.

The staff is very committed to 24/7 supervision.   The Marbella camp  for students 5-13 is located in the most exclusive part of the city.

Yes, there is always a chaperone that supervises students as required by law on the bus.

  • Personal clothing MARKED WITH THEIR NAME – It is recommended to avoid bringing valuable or delicate clothing.
  • 2 pairs of sports pants/shorts
  • 1 pair of long pants/shorts
  • 1 light sweater or jacket
  • 10 T-shirts
  • Socks – Underwear
  • 1 set of pajamas/sleepwear
  • 1 hat
  • For the pool – Towels for the swimming pool and 2 hand and bath towels –
  • 2 Bathing suits, shower/beach sandals
  • school material – Spanish/English dictionary – Pencil case, notebook, pen, pencil, eraser
  • Toiletries Kit with useful toiletries: – Soap, shampoo, sponge – Brush, toothpaste, cologne and comb – Insect repellent – Sun screen
  • Additional material – A backpack for excursions – 1 laundry bag for dirty clothes with the student’s name clearly written on it.
  • Documentation – Photocopy of health card (to be given to the camp instructor upon arrival) – Photocopy of private insurance card (if the student has one)

Yes, students can do laundry on a weekly basis.
